Planning the perfect garden wedding… In Melbourne

Mary-Anne from Bram Leigh Receptions shares some great tips for planning your perfect garden wedding in Melbourne

Many brides dream of the weather on the day they walk down the aisle – sun is shining, rainbows in the sky and birds are singing, but the reality is that in the middle of summer it can be dark, gloomy, overcast and then the rain starts!  Many brides plan a summer wedding and say, the weather will be fine its summer! I always ask a couple what’s the plan if its rains? No one likes to discuss the things that might not go to plan, but the perfect accessory for your wedding day – is the rainy day back up plan.

Brides may comment on using umbrellas” if it rains – but believe me that umbrellas are not a back up plan! Umbrellas help to stop you get soaking wet when you step out of a car but you can’t expect guests to stand under them and watch your entire ceremony, getting cold, damp and soggy – not the lasting impression that you wish to leave on your guests from your ceremony

Do you want to be the wedding that everyone remembers because everyone was soaking wet?

When looking for ceremony options, you must consider a back up plan – preferably at the same venue, (i.e. chapel on site)  You must be happy with the venue in case the weather turns – If that option is a dance floor in the reception room, will you really be happy?  Consider venues that offer the best of both worlds – gorgeous gardens, but also a onsite chapel that is booked as your back up plan so any change of plans on the day will be seamless

In Melbourne there is lots to consider for different seasons  – with 146 days per year having rain, you don’t want to let it rain on your parade, and if it does , it is considered good luck if it rains on your wedding day
