You have received the wedding invitation and have no idea of what to wear. At Just as Planned we know this can be a minefield so we have put together a little cheat sheet for the ladies and our friends at Paul Fredrick have supplied us with a fabulous guide for the gents.
One key details for all the brides to be planning your special day, don’t forget to include any specific attire that your would like your guests to follow on your invitation. This can be as simple as stating “Dress: Black Tie”.
The invite says….. Black Tie
I would suggest either a cocktail dress or a formal floor length gown. Think red carpet event.
The invite says….. Semi Formal
I would suggest a cocktail dress, dressy skirt or pant suit.
The invite says….. Casual / Outdoors
A casual dress such as a summer dress.
Here are my suggestions on what not to wear.
- White. Unless it is stated specifically on the invitation, I suggest stay away and let the bride shine.
- Jeans, again unless specifically stated
- Anything too revealing or strapless. If you are attending a religious wedding you may need to consider covering your shoulders for the ceremony
